02/24/2005: "Wildfire"
"Bad News Travels like wildfire...." or so it goes.... and people will always misunderstand, or so I always assume.....
Seems, as I understand it, that a unit was bought by camp with stipulation the owners could salvage their belongings. Seems it was in the process of being moved to make way. Seems somebody called the former owners and told them the unit was being "disassembled", which evidently to them meant totally destroyed, contents and all, so they called to protest. To those involved in "disassembly", it was merely packing up to move out of the way. All belongings were to be left inside for retrieval. Wonder how the word got around, and how it caused so much misunderstanding? But then, this is my take on the situation, and I may be wrong, too.
I worry a lot about when there are problems based on simple misunderstandings and there is no mediator to explain and interpret. I should be that person since I'm so good at seeing between the lines or feelings or whatever, but I don't know if I could communicate each other's feelings and intentions any better than what they want to believe anyway. Kinda like getting in the middle of a lover's spat or something. Or office gossip. When it was never meant that way, or even if it was meant that way, the observation or premise was wrong to begin with.
I even think I could solve the middle east crisis. At least I understand it. Maybe I'm just too simple minded and only think I understand things or see them.... Nevertheless, it seems people would take the time to begin with a positive expectation and look for reasons, motives, whatever.....
I'm reading Ed McBain's books now. He's pretty straight out about gossip and misunderstandings and and and...... and sometimes it isn't a problem and somebody makes it one. Because they are helping. Yes. Helping. That's the word, huh? oh well.
