03/19/2005: "About Gmail"
hmmmm.... I've come to love this gmail! google makes it, so if you leave messages in archive, you can search for anything! but there's more.....
Okay, the spam filter... It's really great. Seems to catch 95% of my spam, and only once in a blue moon does it filter out something I want.
AND NOW!!!! It can be turned on for POP access, so you can use it with your email client. What's good about that? it only downloads to your email client what is in your IN box. None of the spam... but you can still go to gmail.com to check the spam if you just want to.
Oh, and with the filters and labels, you can skip the inbox if you like. Say, for instance, you only want to look at your Dilbert cartoons when you are on the web instead of having them come to your inbox, you can put themin your Dilbert label, and bring them up when you are ready. Select skip inbox, and they only are available in the Dilbert label or by search, not cluttering your hard drive.
AND there is so much storage on their server, that if you don't need some stuff saved on your computer, just leave it up there.
DON'T FORGET to mark the option to leave the messages on gmail when accessed by pop.
Oh, and here is what is so KEWL!!!!!!!!!! If you are able to forward your primary email address, say, for instance jehosaphat@jehosaphay.not, you can have all your old email go to the gmail account to be filtered.
Set your return and reply to address to the jehosaphat or whatever, download using the gmail, and you can still send using your jehosaphat account in outlook express or whatever! ain't that special!
so, okay then! if you don't have a gmail account, I have some invitations to share. Just email me and I'll send you one! Heck, if they had gmail in the olden days, I'd be using it only! go figger......
so. I only have so many invitations, so first come first gets 'em!
