03/08/2006: "The Gospel according to PK -- Brain Dead and Heaven"
From an MNID discussion on "religion".... One of the things Tom wondered about was the resurrected body and soul getting to Heaven at different times.....
Tom asked:
"What about the person who get into a auto accident and is brain dead because of that accident, the brain is deterioted so it is not functioning and has lost all those memories or what not. Does that person go to heaven completly brain dead or did god retrieve those pasts doing of the brain and have those waiting for the arrival of the body? Sort makes you wonder about keeping vegetables alive, or how about all those people in rest homes losing their memories and what not."
PK:
The body is dust to dust. The spirit, soul, mind is what is eternal. Obviously recognizable, per the parables, but again, what an exciting time that will be!!
TOM
Read the question correctly, I don't dispute what leaves the body is the soul, what fine point I dinge on, is what soul spirit leaves the body? Simply stated the soul spirit is the collection the energy forces that are in the brain, if those forces are disrupted such as due to auto accident, disease or what ever, what goes to Heaven, the prior to the accident therefore keeping the person physically alive is useless because the soul has all ready been removed, God has determined the person to be dead such as the case of that Florida woman. Or does the deteriorated part go intact therefore keeping person alive renders sending a lesser soul to God?
PK:
Without medical intervention, when the spirit leaves the body, I think the body would cease to exist, or gradually wither to death....
My MIL slipped away at her will with her daughter by her side. FIL insisted on being disconnected, and slipped away with wife and children by his side.
My little sister was taken in a car wreck, and I'm so glad she didn't have to remain in what was left of her little body.
My grandmother struggled for almost a month, and only slipped away after a particular grandson came by to say his farewell.
Pete clung to a meager breath until my dad could return from wintering in Florida to "give him permission" to die.
My uncle clung until the last family member was able to touch his hand and release him.
My grandmother in law was put on intervention and her body was alive for five years past the time she said goodbye.
When Jesus gave up his spirit, his body ceased to function.
I'm not sure, but I think a person may have a choice when to let it go, and some are ready quicker, some have more tolerance for existing in a useless body.
