02/25/2009: "~ Acer system reboots restarts? ~"

So, not being smart as the smartest bear, but smarter than the average bear, we followed through on the constant reboot problem peculiar to Acer machines here in February 2009. We got the fix!!!!!

If you have an Acer system, desktop or laptop, that came with the ePowering Technology, AND if you use AVG anti-virus, free or commercial, this is the month that suddenly your system will begin a reboot cycle. It will seem as though you have a bad driver, as you CAN boot in Safe Mode.

BUT----> There is a known conflict between a particular AVG update and e-Lock Management.

CURE----> Boot to safe mode and uninstall e-Lock Management program.

alternate CURE----> If you use the e-Lock Management program, you'll have to uninstall AVG anti-virus and select a different remedy.

ACER is aware of this problem and is working on a fix. Most of my customers do not need that part of the ePowering Technology, so removing just that portion is not a problem.
