04/24/2010: "~ Why did I quit fixing computers? ~"
I'd have to answer that one, folks, with a "bunch of reasons":
Mostly moving on and lack of time. Wanna know more? then click on "more"! duh!
One thing is this: I'm working for Brother Tom three mornings a week, which kinda takes the whole day when you count getting there, staying after, and getting home, then unwinding. Also it means I'm working on other stuff at home for him, such as website things that always need more work, and I need to feel free to do them without having puters to fix weighing heavy on me.
Another thing is this: Avon Park Camp: I love it there and took on some responsibilities that, although they don't take up a whole lot of time, still take time and I need to feel free to do them without having puters to fix weighing heavy on me.
A more practical thing is this: Computers are changing. As in getting cheaper so it doesn't do to have to charge somebody to fix something when they can practically get another computer for what it takes to fix them. Viruses are getting trickier and mostly you have to back up your stuff on external drive or disks, then reformat--DID YOU MAKE YOUR RESTORE DISKS YET????--then update and reload all your stuff. A person should be able to do that on their own, or they really shouldn't own a computer. Well, I mean, be prepared to restore or to pay out the nose, or you may have to learn the hard way.
And also, computers are changing so that there are so many more things to learn, and I end up working with ten year old machines and brand new ones both, and that's a lot of stuff to know and I need to feel free to do my other stuff without having puters to fix and research weighing heavy on me.
Plus, God wants me for something. I am not sure what yet, and have lightly tested some of the waters, but must be free to go where He leads without having puters to fix weighing heavy on me.
So, in other words, the time involved is more than I could honestly charge somebody, and the research time adds to that, and then I can't do what I need to do for my Camp Meeting, Brother Tom, the Sands, and myself.
I'm sorry, and I really don't know anybody to recommend that would care and charge reasonably.... so please create your restore disks, back up your information and settings, and learn to be suspicious.
OR GET A Mac!!!!! If you get a Mac, I will help you. Mostly because you don't need help. They don't crash. ;-)
