01/25/2002 Archived Entry: "Hosing the Hard Drive"

Okay, so maybe I'm the only person in the world who can crash win2k. Just maybe. Maybe not. Anyway, I decided the problem is in upgrading, so I hosed the hard drive.........

yes, I washed it totally clean, and reinstalled win2k. So far I don't have all the drivers I need to make it work. One of the reasons is that I can't find where I put all my backups, and the other one is that without them I need to get online to download the drivers, and one of them I need to download is the one for the modem.

Okay, so sign on with the win98 partition, right? ummmm.... I don't think so. Somebody selected not to backup the current system files when she re-installed win2k because she had no clue, for some reason, that the files from the win98 partition would be deleted, too (system files that is). So, we reinstall win98 also, and fortunately everything else is still there where I had begun to reconstruct a useful partition before I decided to hose 2k, so here I am, and luckily the internet didn't crash, and my files are still up there for the website. I don't guess that's the most foolish thing I've done in my life, but only because I needed a clean install. So now I have two of them. Thank goodness I still have my laptop which is saving my keys for my programs I paid for!!!!!

Anybody else want to try something new? heh! But how is a person to learn if they don't try? Can't remain stagnant in what I already know, that's for sure. Time marches on, and I haven't bought xp yet. so.

Go figure. I did it again. Re-installed win98 and didn't check to save old files, so lost my win2k partition boot record. geez. I'm not really doing so hot here. Thinking I'll just get win98 ready and leave it. Somebody is awfully tired.
